Virden Lighting Fixtures
The Virden Company of Cleveland was a prolific maker of residential fixtures in the 1920s, and its catalog is a favorite reference among restorers because it documents the era's mainstream taste so completely.
Pages run heavily to Colonial Revival candle chandeliers, polished-brass semi-flush fixtures, and the ubiquitous pan light, with pattern numbers that help collectors attribute unmarked fixtures to a maker and year.
Virden's range bridges the warm revival look of the early decade and the first hints of the geometric modern style that would take over by the 1930s.
